I know the universe likes to make us work for the things we want. But, I wouldn’t get mad if it let me experience romantic love at least once in my life… I don’t think I ask for much -_-
The Music and the Mirror, (37/42) Cat/Kara
CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Cat and Max clash once again, and Kara is having a difficult time in rehearsal.
“So,” Cat is standing at the side of the bed when Kara finally cracks one eye open enough to let light in. More beautiful that the post-coital woman in the robe standing before her are the steaming coffee mugs that said woman is holding. “I have coffee, but there’s a qualifying question.”
“The answer is whatever you want it to be, as long as I get the coffee,” Kara groans, pulling herself up against the pillows. “You know, I didn’t even drink that much. Why do I feel like I’ve been hit by a train?”
“Adrenaline crash,” Cat says, a little snappish. “Now, to qualify for coffee, answer me this: are you going to have any more genius ideas about one-time things and how that’s all I want? Or are you going to be a person who gets to drink their coffee?”
“No more bright ideas,” Kara promises. “I don’t have enough functioning brain cells anyway.”

The Music and the Mirror (26/?), Cat/Kara
CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
Eliza’s in town to see Kara’s first time on stage with National City Ballet. She’s not a lead yet, but it’s still a big deal. Cat has been away for a few days following their unexpected kisses. What will she make of Kara’s debut?
“You have to eat more than that,” Eliza scolds from the other end of the bench, pushing another bowl of pasta towards Kara. “This is you. That metabolism of yours will burn through all this in one act.”
“Yeah, mom’s right,” Alex chimes in, from where she’s looking over the edge of the roof, gauging how high up they are on top of the CatCo Center. “We don’t want you fainting like you did in Swan Lake. These people paid good money, it’s not like the Community Center back home.”
“Fine,” Kara grumbles, but she’s actually enjoying the food despite her nerves. Some things never change. “You didn’t have to fly in just for this, but I’m so glad you did, Eliza.”
“Miss your first performance as an official company member?” Eliza scoffs. “Not a chance. Even if it is in the middle of the week, gives me an excuse to see the city on a day the banks are open. God knows Alex never invites me for anything.”
“Sure, Mom,” Alex groans. “I can’t help that I work six days a week. You’re never going to see me on stage, so what’s the big deal? You have Kara for all the crying into your Playbill stuff.”
“I do,” Eliza agrees, pulling Kara into a one-armed hug. “Though she’s starting to call as little as you do, Alexandra. Are you both dating, is that it? I know something’s up.”
